20 & 21 June 1920: Cowdenbeath Pit Accidents - Two fatal accidents have occurred in the Cowdenbeath District. Thomas Cowan, 45, who resided at Mid Row, Hill of Beath, was killed by a fall of stone in Dalbeath Pit, and Robert Walkinshaw, Church Row, Kelty met his death in a like manner at Blairenbathie Pit, Kelty. Cowan leaves a widow and eight of a family, and Walkinshaw a widow and three children. [Scotsman 23 June 1920]
