- Deceased was passing up along his longwall working place in the Shallow Seam when a stone 10ft. in length, 2ft. 6ins. in width, and 17ins. in thickness fell upon him from between two unseen slips parallel to the coal face and converging upwards. He was extricated at once but did in about half an hour. The place was timbered with props and lids set 4ft. apart in rows 5ft. apart. The face props were 1ft. from coal face and the stone fell from between this and the next row.
