- Details of Event
- Deceased was killed by a runaway journey of three empty tubs at the bottom of a hill dipping 1 in 6, which formed the terminus of the main endless rope haulage. The system of attaching the tub to the haulage rope was by lashing chains; but the chain in this case was apparently improperly put on and became loose, causing the journey the first that morning to run amain down the hill and knack out the blocks at the bottom, with the result stated.
