- Details of Event
- Deceased, who had been suffering for some mouths from heart disease and shortness of breath, and had lost work in consequence and been under the doctor's care, was ridding stones in the High Main seam. He had complained to his marrow during the course of the shift of a severe pain in his chest, and was shortly afterwards found by him lying on the pavement moaning and soon expired. The doctor who had attended him gave evidence at the inquest, and stated he had examined the body externally and found no marks on it, and that knowing the previous history of deceased he was not surprised at the manner of his death. One of the Local Inspectors reported he had examined the place and found it all right. There was no suggestion of any accident.
