- Details of Event
- Five cartridges had been put into a hole, and while the foreman, who was the only person authorised to charge and fire holes, was preparing to charge a second hole with powder the deceased appears to have been putting in the primer and pressing it down with a wooden stemmer when the charge exploded and killed him. No one actually saw him do this, but the stemmer could not be found and there were wounds on his hands and body which pointed to his having been hit by the end of it.
