- 9 August 1929: Late on Thursday night, Patrick Connelly (50), miner Bathgate Road, Blackburn, West Lothian, was knocked down and run over by a runaway rake of empty hutches in the same colliery [Whitrigg]. His right leg was fractured in three places, and after receiving medical attention he was removed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. [Scotsman 10 August 1929]
