- 17 July 1922: Bathgate – Colliery Fatality – While at work in No.4 pit Bathgate, Christopher Connelly who resided at Paulville Rows, was pinned beneath a large stone which fell from the roof, and died of his injuries about half an hour after being removed home. [Hamilton Advertiser 22 July 1922]
Falls in Mine (b) Falls of Roof – He was seriously injured by a piece of craw coal which fell from the roof. He was actually taking this down at the time. The piece which fell measured 12ft by 4 ft by 2ft 3 in. He died a few hours later. Newspaper report - Lothians pages
