- Details of Event
- Deceased and his son were coming outbye, the latter leading a pony, down a gravity worked incline dipping about 2.5 inches to the yard on which, having no 2-feet travelling way, no one was allowed to travel when the sets were running. The son reaching the bottom much sooner than his father, thoughtlessly told the landing lad to rap the bank clear, and the set was started. The father was found injured some little distance up the bank, and he stated that the empty rope jerking across had knocked his safety lamp out, otherwise there would have been plenty of room for him to get out of the deceased died 3 days later.
