At face coal and shale 4ft. by 20ins. by 38ins. thick. Deceased was cutting away the "butt" at the bottom of a face slip of coal, when the coal with the shale above it fell on his leg fracturing the bone so badly as to necessitate amputation. It was said that one sprag was crushed out. Nine feet seam.
