Deceased the rider and another collier were waiting in a refuge hole on the engine plane to allow the empty journey to pass the last tram left the rails at some points and knocking out the timbers a fall of about 60 tons resulted. The two who escaped jumped forward and got clear of the fall but deceased stepping back was crushed against the side.
