- Details of Event
- He was standing, as he thought, in a safe place on the tramway near two trams at the out-bye end of his stope, watching a big piece of bad hanging wall which he knew was on the point of falling. Eventually it gave a warning crack, and he rushed towards a place of safety. As he was passing alongside the trams, he was caught by the fringe of the falling ground, pinned against the trams, and buried. He was extricated alive four hours later, but succumbed to his injuries five hours afterwards.
