Deceased was engaged in ripping in the stall road a few yards from the face where a new road was being turned away. A shot had just been fired by the shot-firer after which he and deceased examined the place and found two loose pieces of rock hanging. Deceased was engaged in pulling down these loose pieces when a large piece of rock fell from between two slips without giving a warning and killed him instantly. He appeared to have loosened the key which was keeping the larger piece between the slips from falling.
