Whilst deceased was attaching his pony to a full tub, a hewer was attempting to set a prop which had been knocked out from underneath the face plank by an overcharged shot, when a stone about 9 feet wide, 7 feet long, and 15 inches thick, fell on to deceased. When deceased was released, he had his left arm round a prop, which possibly had been loosened by the flying coal from the shot and came out when he touched it in getting past the tub or in helping the pony to start.
