- Details of Event
- For the purpose of repairing a damper he went into the main fine of a lime kiln and was overcome by inhaling carbon dioxide gas. His son tried to rescue him, but was also overcome. Both were got out within half an hour, but the elder man was dead. As there was no smoke in the flue they thought it was quite safe.
