- Details of Event
- The deceased was a getter in a long wall face where there is a seam of coal 2 feet thick at a distance of 3.5 feet above the working seam. An air read running into the face had been ripped up to this coal, and a little of the latter had fallen in the air road. Deceased went, without instructions, to rid out the fallen coal, and probably attempted to pull a little more. While so doing a fall of coal and shale 2 feet thick above it fell on deceased, and caused injuries from which he died on June 23rd.
