- Details of Event
- He was coining out-bye with his pony and five fall tubs from a jinney bottom into a pass-bye; the road dips 2.5 inches to the yard, and the usual number of lockers had been put in. Some blocks are, as a rule, placed across the full road at the end of pass-bye to hold up the full tubs until all the lockers are put in the wheels, but on the day in question the ordinary corporal who usually put these blocks into position, was not at work, and they had not been put in. It seems probable that the deceased had suddenly noticed these blocks were not in position, after he had detached his pony from the tubs, and had got in front to hold the tubs back, and while doing so dropped his lamp and, when in the dark, tripped up and was run over by the first tub, for he was found under the first tub, and the pony was detached and had turned round into the empty road.
