- Details of Event
- Crushed between cage and shaft timbering at a point about 100 fathoms front the surface where he was cutting a place for fixing a pump cistern. It is suggested that be tried to jump into the cage as it passed on its way to the surface, and he as caught and crushed by the bottom of the cage and not by the top. If this is a correct explanation and no other seems to present itself, it would appear to have been an insane idea.
