- Details of Event
- He was going into the cage to assist with some tubs at the request of the onsetter, when it was raised and lie was thrown out and fell into the sump which was full of water. His body was not recovered for an hour. In this case all signals had to be transmitted from the onsetter to the banksman. The banks-man contended he got a signal by rapper for the cage to be raised which he duly transmitted to the winding engineman. The onsetter was positive he gave no such signal, and in this lie was supported by another witness. Probably the banksman made a mistake.
