- Details of Event
- Deceased was sitting on the limbers driving a pony drawing three full tubs outbye, on a level driving road between two landings. He was seen by another lad to fall off the limbers at a point where the road turned slightly to the left and where a balk supporting the roof was only 5 inches above the height of the tub (4 feet 1 inch above rail level). The road inbye of this balk was for some yards back of considerable height, and further inbye was not less than 6 feet high. Deceased had driven on the road for some tune, but had probably forgotten fur the moment the lowness of the balk, and was caught by it there being found a bruise on his back which was the only mark of external violence. He never recovered consciousness. Sudden low places on high roadways are always a source of danger.
