- Deceased was working on a long wall face in a seam of the following section Top coal 2ft. 6ins., dirt 2ft. 3ins., bottom coal 2ft. 3ins. The face had been holed in the dirt, and after getting the bottom coal up, deceased was taking the tops down and timbering as the buttock advanced. He had set a tree near the buttock end, and was pulling some top coal, when it came away suddenly and knocked out the tree, the end of which struck him a violent blow on the side of head. He died in the hospital next day from haemorrhage.
