- 21 December 1926: Colliery Fatality At Blantyre - A miner named Peter Clark (65) was killed in the Whistleberry Colliery Blantyre, which belongs to Archibald Russell & Co. (Ltd.). Clark, along with his son Walter, had been at work in No.2 Pit when a stone weighing over two tons suddenly came away from the roof. It pinned the father underneath, and when he was extricated life was found to be extinct. His son had a fortunate escape. Deceased, who was a widower, and leaves a grown-up family, resided at 152 Glasgow Road, Blantyre. [Scotsman 23 December 1926]
