Deceased was engaged in withdrawing props from a waste and was at the moment placing a chain around a prop when the roof on and around it collapsed, pushing his head into small slack. The place was only 20 inches high, so that deceased had to lie flat to fix the chain. He had already withdrawn three or four props, which probably started the roof on the move. The props were allowed to remain ton far back in the waste. The prop he was engaged upon was 14 feet 6 inches from the coal face.
