Details of Event
Deceased went outbye on a road dipping 2 inches per yard sitting on his horse's limbers with four full tubs attached and a drag in the wheels of three of the tubs. He was found 130 yards from where he started lying under the first tub which as well as the second and third was derailed The horse disconnected from the tubs was standing 6 yards in front of them and a cotteril used to put through an eye in the bolt of the limbers after it has been put into the yoke hole on the tub was found lying 1 yard behind the last tub. The cotteril was in good order with plenty of spring. It was surmised that only one of its prongs had been inserted in the eye of the limber bolt and that it had been shaken out the limbers become disconnected and deceased had fallen before the tubs. The Local Inspectors reported ‘we consider it a pure accident."
