Deceased was either standing or passing under the junction of a horse road with a disused gate, when he was fatally injured by a fall of roof weighing 10 tons. The place was secured by three cross girders which were supported at one side of the road by props and at the other side by a carrying girder. One of the legs of this girder seems to have come out, probably by slow accumulation of weight either from the side or roof or both, and so allowed all the other supports to collapse.
