- The leg of a setting of timber on a jig hill had been knocked out by runaway tubs, thus liberating a bar which sagged. Having set another bar, an attempt was made to saw the old one to liberate it. The saw struck in the cut, and deceased was cutting the bar out with an axe, when the roof over an area 10.5 feet long, 9 feet wide, and an average of 2 feet thick fell suddenly, reeling out three settings of timber and burying him. He was got out 15 minutes later, but he was then dead.
