Deceased was working in a longwall face in a seam 6ft. thick with a dirt parting 9ins. thick in the centre. He was holing in this dirt and was partially under a portion of overhanging top coal, which was well spragged, when a bump brought down the holed coal and a portion of the unholed coal where deceased was. He received a compound fracture of the thigh and was taken to the Accident Home where he died on the morning of August 11th.
