Two shots had been fired in the rock ripping of a road by the shot-firer about half an hour before the accident occurred and the deceased returned to the place with the shot-firer to examine it. They then had a meal. On returning they began to pull down loose pieces, when a piece 3ft. by 4ft. 6ins. by 10ins. suddenly fell and killed Chisam. The rock was shot shaken but the two stonemen and the shot-firer, who were all experienced men, did not detect it.
