The deceased was clearing the ground with a shovel to fix a prop to the roof, when a large fall of roof cool, 12 feet long, 2 feet thick, and 5 feet to 8 feet broad, came down and crushed him to the ground. The loader also received a fractured leg and other injuries. Deceased worked too long a length of coal along the face before attempting to fix roof supports.
