Deceased and another were renewing a bar which supported the roof in the main haulage road in Deep Seam. To protect themselves, he had set middle posts under the two adjoining bars. When knocking out a short sprag which supported one end of the bar which was being taken out, some roof stone fell and knocked out one of the middle posts which struck deceased on the stomach, causing internal injuries, to which he succumbed two days later.
