- Details of Event
- He was getting ganister in a seam where the coal had been worked many years previously and the roof in consequence was broken and uncertain. Bars were set every 3 feet and close timbering over them in the form of piles were driven up to the face. He and his mate had fired a shot in the ganister and went to see what the result was. His mate noticed a prop had been displaced from under a bar and saw the place was weighting and told the deceased so and advised him to keep away until he went for another man. While he was away the deceased went in aid attempted to reset the prop and while doing so the roof, for a length of about 10 feet, fell upon and killed him.
