- 12 November 1924: Decomposed Body Found On Bing At Bellshill - A tragedy, believed to be about ten days old, was discovered on Wednesday on the outskirts of Bellshill. On top of a refuse bin at No.13 Pit, Rosehall Colliery, the body of a man was found in an advanced state of decomposition. It is believed that the man may have lain down to sleep on the bing, lost consciousness through the fumes, for a tragedy of that type occurred in the vicinity about a year ago. The man has as yet to be identified. On the body was found, amongst other things, an insurance card bearing the words - James Cassidy, Lesmahagow. It had been dated 31-10-24 at the office of the Ministry of Labour, Greenhead Halls, Bridgeton, Glasgow. [Motherwell Times 14 November 1924]
