They were starting to take a new leaf off a stoop without setting trees under the straps which are needled into the blaes above the coal, a precaution the fireman had instructed them to take. A heavy fall of roof and side took place killing Duffy on the spot, and so injuring Cassels that he died on October 22. Owing to a mistake in counting the number of men below ground the accident was only discovered some five or six hours after it happened. 2 killed.
