He was standing on a stone which spanned a gulley and was about to sling a chain around it for lifting with the crane when the stone slipped away from under him into the gulley and he followed it to a depth of 10 or 12 feet. Peritonitis suprvening upon the effects of the shock which his system had received resulted in death on the 9th February.
