- Details of Event
- The deceased had stopped the coal-cutter to allow a shot-lighter to pass, and also to examine some coal which was bulged out, and to which his mate had drawn his attention. As he was coming round to the machine a large fall of roof occurred without any warning and buried him. He was evidently suffocated as when found he was doubled up in a kneeling position. His mate was slightly injured. Bars let into the coal one end were every 4 feet and the fall was probably caused by the coal giving way and letting down a bar. 1 killed 1 injured.
