- Details of Event
- Deceased sometimes worked as a putter and sometimes as a hewer. On the day of the accident he acted in both capacities. Not having sufficient work as a putter, the deputy allowed him to hew part of his shift and directed him to work at the side of a pillar in the Yard seam. Deceased worked at the point for some time and then went to the other side of road and while hewing there a stone fell from the side upon him. The foreshift deputy had not visited deceased after he started to hew. The Local Inspectors reported that it was a pure accident and seemed to our judgement quite unforeseen.
