Robert Gabriel Wall died at Asis, in what was then German South-West Africa, on April 19th, 1914, before the notification of his election to Associateship had reached him. He was 42 years of age.
He was for seven years an officer in the Burma Police; and during the South African War he held a commission as Lieutenant in the Mines Defence Force. After the war he decided to remain in South Africa, and from 1908 to 1907 was employed in various capacities at the Now Kleinfontein group of mines. For three years subsequent to this he was associated with several enterprises in connection with the Swaziland Tin Corporation. In 1910 he went to German South-West Africa, and was at first engaged on the diamond fields. From April, 1912, until the time of his death, he was employed in examining outlying tin fields for the Otavi Exploring Syndicate, Ltd.
Mr. Wall was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1914.
