Henry Waring Oak Woodrooffe died at St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, in November, 1934, at the age of 63.
In 1889 he was articled to the firm of T. & W. Morgans, Civil and Mining Engineers, of Bristol and London, and during the period of his pupillage attended classes at Camborne and University College, Bristol, and obtained practical experience in mines in Glamorganshire and Cornwall. In November, 1892, he was engaged by the Santa Francisca Gold Mines, Ltd., in Nicaragua, as assistant manager and engineer. On the termination of his three years’ contract he entered into another of equal duration with the same company as assistant manager, followed by a further two years as assistant and acting general manager. He next entered into an engagement with the Nicaragua Development Syndicate, Ltd., by whom he was employed for considerable period. In 1909 he went to Canada, to the Bruce Mines, Ontario, and he was also engaged in consulting work up to a short time before his death.
Mr. Woodroofe was elected a Member of the Institution in 1901.
