Arthur Wilkinson died on September 29th, 1913, at the age of 54 years.
For some years he was employed by Messrs. H. Eckstein & Co., of Johannesburg, in the following capacities; from 1890 to 1898 as mining assistant to Mr. Hennen Jennings; during this period he was engaged in examining and valuing mines on the Witwatersrand, and inspecting mining properties and prospects in the Transvaal, Orange River Colony and Natal. From 1898 to 1903 he was on Messrs. Eckstein’s staff of consulting engineers. For the period from 1899 to 1904 he acted as consulting engineer to the Henry Nourse Gold Mining Co., Ltd., the Heriot Gold Mining Co., Ltd., and the Bantjes Consolidated Mines, Ltd., in Johannesburg, but at the last-named date he had to resign those positions on account of ill-health.
From 1904 to the date of his death he was engaged in consulting work in London; and during the latter part of the time acted as consulting engineer to the Colombian Mining & Exploration Co., Ltd.
Mr. Wilkinson was elected a Member of the Institution in 1904. At the-time of his death he was a Corresponding Member of Council for the Republic of Colombia.
