Alan Tyson Wood was reported missing in May, 1942, when in Malaya and is now presumed dead.
Mr. Wood, who was 27 years old, was educated from 1924 to 1927 at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, and then privately for five years. He received his professional training at the Camborne School of Mines from 1933 to 1936, gaining the A.C.S.M. He immediately went out to Malaya in the service of Messrs. Osborne & Chappel, and was still with them when the country was overrun by the Japanese.
He was elected to Studentship of the Institution in 1936.
