Robert Ernest Blackadder Vinicombe died at Bangkok, Thailand, on April 26th, 1941, at the age of 57.
He graduated from the Royal School of Mines in 1906, and his first engagement was with the Spassky Copper Mine, Siberia, first as surveyor, then as superintendent of the Yuspenssky Mine, Akmolinsk. Thence he went to the Caucasus to take charge of a copper prospect, and later was appointed general assistant to the South American Copper Syndicate in Venezuela.
He served in the Great War, reaching the acting rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and on conclusion of hostilities he was in Trinidad for about a year. In 1921 he was appointed assistant manager of Anglo-Continental and Mongu Tin, Nigeria, subsequently becoming assistant to the manager of Nigerian Base Metals, Ltd. Later, he was engaged in the Gold Coast Colony and in Spain, and finally Thailand with Anglo-Eastern Tin, Ltd.
Mr. Vinicombe was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1903, and was elected an Associate in 1909.
