Joseph W. Tank died at Cresswiek, Victoria, Australia, on October 4th, 1915. He was about 50 years of age.
He received his training in mining in various mines and works at Ballarat, and for nine years, from 1887 to 1896, was engaged as under-manager or manager on several gold mines in Victoria. In 1896 he went to Western Australia, and remained there for four years as manager to Lindsay’s Find and Hinimoa, Gold Mines.
He then returned to Victoria and spent two years there managing gold mines, after which he proceeded to West Africa, where, from 1908 to 1905, be noted as mine and general manager to the Himon Concessions, Ltd. After six months occupied on a reporting expedition in Siberia, he came to England in November, 1907, and took up his residence in London for two years, returning to Australia in 1910.
Mr. Tank was elected a Member of the Institution in 1907.
