Geoffrey Roose Paton died in Nigeria on November 8th, 1927, at the age of 33.
He was a student at the Camborne School of Mines from January, 1912, to July, 1914. At the outbreak of war he enlisted in the Public Schools Battalion, 16th Middlesex Regiment, and was ultimately gazetted to the 13th Royal Welch Fusiliers, in which he attained the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Military Cross in 1916.
In August, 1919, he went to Northern Nigeria as assistant engineer on the staff of the Niger
Co., Ltd. Leaving that company in 1922, he entered the employment of the Niger Minerals Development Co., Ltd., later the Nigerian Base Metals Corporation, Ltd., in whose service he was at the time of his death.
Mr. Paton was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1914 and was transferred to Associateship in 1923.
