Clive Edward Effingham Pargeter died at Belgrade on December 14th, 1938, at the age of 50.
He finished his course at the Camborne School of Mines in 1907 and went to India, where for upwards of three years he was employed in various capacities on the manganese ore properties of the Central Provinces Prospecting Syndicate, Ltd., Balaghat, C.P. After a few months spent on private research Work in Cornwall, he went to Nigeria in 1912, and was manager of Jos Tin Areas on the outbreak of the Great War, during which he served with the Royal Engineers, receiving the Military Cross and mention in despatches.
In June, 1919, the proceeded to Egypt to take up his appointment as general manager of the Sinai Mining Co., Ltd., and three years later went to the Gold Coast in charge of prospecting operations for the West African Diamond Syndicate, Ltd. In 1925 he went to Ascension Island as manager of a chemical works, and held that position for three years, after which he went to Uganda and Tanganyika, where he was on the Kagera Mine. From 1933 to the time of his death he was engaged in Yugoslavia.
Mr. Pargeter was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1901; he was elected an Associate in 1913 and was transferred to Membership in 1925.
