Adolfo Prasso, in company with a party of Italian army officers and engineers, left Addis Ababa by aeroplane on June 28th, 1936, to visit concessions in the Wallega province of Abyssinia. The machine was landed at Nekempti, about half way, and the occupants were killed by the local inhabitants.
Mr. Prasso, who was 31 years of age, matriculated at the University of London and entered the Royal School of Mines in 1923, obtaining his A.R.S.M. in mining in 1927. After a few months’ work in Cornish mines he entered the service of the Société Minière des Concessions Prasso en Abyssinie, and was engaged in the exploitation of platinum deposits owned by his father which were later acquired by French interests. He was also concerned in gold mining and extensive prospecting activities in Abyssinia.
He was elected a Student of the Institution in 1927, and was transferred to Associateship in 1931.
