James Henry O’Neil died in the Transvaal in February, 1915, aged 22 years.
He started his professional career by working for about three years, up to 1911, as a miner in Cornwall, during which period he attended technical classes locally. Then he entered as a student at the Camborne School of Mines, where he took the full course. In January, 1915, he left England to take up a position on the Ferreira Deep, Ltd., Johannesburg, but his career was cut short by his untimely death towards the end of the month following his arrived there.
Mr. O’Neil was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1914.
