Ernest Dyce Messervy was killed in action in July, 1917. He was 22 years of age, and on the outbreak of war had completed his third year’s work at the Royal School of Mines. In the autumn of 1914 he obtained a commission in one of the County of London Regiments, but afterwards transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, where he held the rank of Captain at the time of his death.
He was at first reported as ‘missing,’ but further intelligence confirmed the fact that he was killed on the above-mentioned date.
Mr. Messervy was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1914.
