Michael Landau died in London on August 7th, 1933, after a long illness, at the age of 45.
He entered the City & Guilds of London Technical Institute, Finsbury, in 1902, where he underwent three years’ training. On completing his course, he was employed for fifteen months in the testing departments of R.W. Paul, London, and E.P. Allen & Co., also of London.
He then went to West Africa as cyanide shiftsman to the Taquah Mining & Exploration Co, and was acting cyanide superintendent during the manager’s absence in England. In 1910 he was appointed cyanide manager to the Abosso Co., and afterwards as metallurgist to the same company, and a year later he returned to the Taquah Co. in the capacity of metallurgist. Subsequently, he returned to England and was for some time engaged in metallurgical practice in Cornwall and finally in London.
Mr. Landau was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1909, and transferred to Associateship in 1913.
