Louie Raymond Keeny died of wounds in November, 1942, at the age of 25. A staff sergeant in the South African Engineer Corps, he was wounded at El Alamein, operated on in the field, and died, as far as can be ascertained, in Palestine.
Mr. Keeny was an American citizen by birth and entered the Royal School of Mines in 1935, obtaining his A.R.S.M. in 1939. In the same year he accepted an appointment with Crown Mines, Ltd., Johannesburg, but left to join the Union Forces.
He was elected a Student of the Institution in 1939.
