Brendan Arthur Gerald Kelly died at Brampton Hospital, London, on April 9th, 1943, at the age of 39.
Born in Ireland, he studied chemistry for two years at the Royal College of Science, Dublin, before entering the Camborne School of Mines in 1925. On obtaining his A.C.S.M. in 1928, he took an appointment with the Caribbean Petroleum Company at Maracaibo, Venezuela, returning to Ireland in 1930.
In 1933 he was engaged as a surveyor with the Irish Land Commission, and in 1934 joined the staff of Gold Coast Banket Areas, Ltd., assayer. He served with this company and South Banket Areas, Ltd., in the Gold Coast until his return to England early in 1943.
Mr. Kelly was elected a Student of the Institution in 1928 and was transferred to Associateship in 1937.
