Reginald Sherratt Innes died in the Belgian Congo early in 1918, at the age of 34 years.
He received his technical education at the Camborne School of Mines from September, 1900, to June, 1903. In January, 1905, he went out to West Africa to join the staff of the Abosso Gold Mining Co. with whom he remained until June, 1907, in the several capacities of assistant surveyor, cyanide shiftman, storekeeper and assayer.
He was then engaged by the Taquah Mining & Exploration Co. as assayer and in charge of retorting and gold smelting. In 1910 he went to Mexico for about two years, and thence in 1918 to the Congo Belge on a prospecting mission.
Mr. Innes was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1909.
